There has been much debate on the matter of delta 8 THC and HHC, how they are similar, and where they stand as per their differences. Indeed, it must have also been challenging for you to understand them and decide which one to buy. While both of them are hemp plant-derived, they do share some distinct qualities as well.

Let’s ease your struggles to find the right cannabinoid and discuss in more depth regarding these two substances. Let’s dive in!

What is HHC?

HHC, which was known initially as Hexahydrocannabinol, is a naturally occurring cannabinoid that is located in the plant called hemp. It is not well known currently, and significantly less data is available regarding it.

HHC was first discovered by a chemist known as Roger Adams in 1944. He found this substance through hydrogenation. In this process, regular Delta 9 THC is used, and with the help of hydrogen, the chemical structure of the substance is changed to form HHC.

In this first step, we extract and distill the Cannabidiol from the biomass of the hemp plant. Then it is transformed into HHC through hydrogenation. Through this entire process, a very potent substance was created by Roger Adams, which people are still researching. However, the product is starting to catch up to the market with strong potential.

What is Delta 8?

Delta-8 is a reasonably known product to the world. It is found in minimal quantities in the hemp plant, which is extracted, and then a substance is formed out of it. While it is naturally occurring, synthetic Delta-8 can also be produced. Delta-8 THC, which stands for tetrahydrocannabinol, is a psychoactive cannabinoid.

It is similar to Delta-9, which is also of the THC family. The difference lies in the chemical structure of their bonds, where in Delta-8, the double bond is found in the 8th chain, and in Delta-9, it is located in the 9th. It is slightly less potent compared to Delta 9. Delta 8 is seen as a lite version of D9.

How Are They Similar?

HHC and Delta 8 both have some similarities. First of all, Both of them are hemp-derived. This means that they come from the same plant and have the same natural beginnings.

Secondly, both of them are psychoactive cannabinoids.

Lastly, Delta 8 and HHC are both classified as minor cannabinoids. This is because both these substances are found in very small quantities in the hemp plant.

Where Are Their Differences?

While there are many similarities between HHC and Delta 8, there are a lot of differences as well. This is due to both of them having their own unique properties, and the different experiences both of these cannabinoids offer to the consumer.

Potency

HHC and Delta-8 are no match when it comes to potency. HHC is at a very high level of potency level compared with Delta-8. This means that it is more effective and gives a better “high”-like effect.

If you are someone who likes a strong euphoric “high” but not with the anxiety and paranoia, the HHC is the perfect product for you. However, if you are a beginner who is not at all experienced with Cannabinoids, then it is preferred that you stick with Delta- 8 THC, for it is far lighter compared to HHC.

Wrapping It Up

Overall, both the products have a wide range of differences amongst them. Despite coming from the same plant, both products are miles apart. While one is extremely potent, the other offers a far-tamer feel and experience.
